Meet the Team

Mark Welsh, MCMI, A1

Mark studied Business Management and the A1 Assessors completing both in 2009 at Carnegie, Dunfermline. He was admitted as a member of the Chartered Management Institute in February 2011.

I had wanted to open a cattery for some time and after several months of planning and groundwork’s we finally opened for business in April 2009. “The best part of owning a cattery is when all the work is done you have time to play with the cats and of course give them a cuddle”.

There have been so many achievements since the business started and we are continually looking to improve on the standard for boarding cats. The highlights have been gaining listing with the Feline Advisory Bureau (FAB) in our first year, and seeing the many young people who have completed work experience and placements with us gaining valuable experience and confidence go on to gain further education or employment.

I am looking forward to adding to the cattery experience and growing the business with the addition of Rosegreen Pet Supplies in 2012.

Gillian Welsh, RVN, A1

Gillian studied Veterinary Nursing at Westminster Kingsway College, London and Berkshire College of Agriculture, Buckinghamshire qualifying in 1996. She completed her A1 Assessors at The College of animal welfare, Cambridgeshire in 2003 and qualified as an SQP with Harper Adams University College, Newport in 2006.

I always wanted to work with animals ever since my first cat Sandy was diagnosed as diabetic.  After qualifying as a Veterinary Nurse I was fortunate to gain a position as a tutor lecturing Part time at Westminster Kingsway College, London and at the Battersea Dogs Home, London. I was the head nurse at PDSA Hospital, Edinburgh for nine years and now work between local veterinary hospital Inglis and Rosegreen Cattery. I have responsibility for the cattery care standards, training and development of staff and volunteers.

I am very much enjoying being able to flex between my interest in anaesthesia and critical care and ensuring that high standards of care of cats boarding are maintained especially those with stable conditions or elderly cats requiring that little bit more tlc.
